Christmas Haul

I went to the mall this weekend and picked up some stuff at MAC and Sephora. I also got my Sigma brushes. I have only used the foundation brush so far but I will review the brushes after using them for some time. I ordered the complete Brush Kit. If you’re still thinking if you should get the brushes, make sure you use the code DEC2011 to get 10% off & a free gift when you purchase $30 or more.

The Benefit legally Bronze kit is a really good deal. It includes High Beam, Hoola, Gilded (gold highlighter) & BADgal Brown mascara. The products are all full size.

Too Faced Primed & Poreless Skin Smoothing Face Primer. This is very similar to Benefit’s POREfessional so I’m not sure if I’m really in love yet.

Sephora by OPI nail strips

Zara Perfume Iris & Fresia

Mineralize Skinfinish (light Plus) & Mineralize Foundation SPF 15 (NC 15)

So far I like the foundation. It feels really nice & moisturizing on my skin. I’ll see if I have the same opinion in a couple of weeks and review it then again.

Morange Lipstick (Amplified Finish) – I love this color. It’s a orangey-red. None of the lipsticks I have are similar to this one.

MAC, Chanel, Lancome, drugstore brands… – finding the right Foundation

Finding the right Makeup is never easy. At least it isn’t for me. I’ve been looking for the right Makeup since years. Yes, you’re reading right – years. I’ve tried all different brands, shades, finishes – whatever there is I’ve tried it & I can’t say that I’ve found the perfect foundation yet. I don’t know why & I don’t think I’m expecting too much from a makeup but non of the foundations I’ve tried so far really blew me away. I’ve tried all different kind of high end brands like Chanel, Clinique, Lancome, Mac as well as drugstore brands like Covergirl, Maybelline or Revlon.some of the Foundations I've tried I’ve liked most of these foundations (the photo shows only some I’ve recently tried) but usually they made my skin dry and flaky. I never order foundations online and I rather pick up a bottle at the counter than a drugstore just because I like to make sure I’m getting the right shade & I hate that most drugstores don’t have samples and if they do, the light usually isn’t the best to find the right shade.

So all I’m looking for is a foundation that doesn’t dry out my skin, lasts for most of the day and gives me a good coverage. I’m heading over to a MAC counter this weekend to try out the Mineralize Foundation. I know it’s one of MAC’s more expensive Makeups & I will try it out in the store to see if I like it & hopefully that will be one that impresses me.

Do you have trouble finding the right Makeup? Any suggestions which one I should try?

Sigma Beauty – great & affordable Makeup brushes

Even though I have tons of brushes (mostly drugstore brands), I think it’s a good a idea to invest into a good set of Makeup brushes. While looking around for good quality brushes I did not wanted to end up broke because in the end we’re just talking about brushes but after comparing prices & reviews I’ve decided to go with the Sigma brushes.

I only heard great things about their quality. They have lots of different sets and the prices        are really good. I can’t wait to receive mine and to try the brushes! If you’re still looking for a gift for a love one or yourself, get your hands on the brushes until December 31st & receive 10% off your order with the code DEC2011.

Are you using Sigma yet?

Holiday Spirit

I’ve been living in the US since the beginning of 2008 and this is what I’m receiving 2-3 times a year. I’ve been told before that it looks like there isn’t any food in the US 😉 and of course there is but those packages bring home a little closer. Every time a get a “care package” I wonder how I’m suppose to finish all of the stuff and usually it lasts from one season to another but I also like to share because everybody who has tried German candy LOVES it.

Would I buy all of this back home? No, definitely not but you learn to appreciate little things when you’re more than 3500 miles away from home.

Coconut & Chocolate

I love baking and I always try to come up with new recipes. One of my quick favorites are macaroons. I just love how simple it is to make the macaroons and usually like to add a little extra twist & dip them in chocolate.

Usually I use dark chocolate just because I like the herb taste of the chocolate mixed with the sweetness of the coconut. I use this simple recipe Just let the macaroons cool before dipping them chocolate.
For the Ganache I mix chocolate (semi-sweet or bittersweet) and heavy cream and heat it in a small saucepan over medium heat.

Birchbox – a monthly beauty surprise

I have been a Birchbox customer since last year and I’ve became a big fan after seeing a review of it on youtube. I usually receive great samples and get the chance to try out new things I haven’t otherwise been able to because we all know good beauty products can be expensive, especially when you want to buy a lot & everything.

If you haven’t heard of Birchbox, it’s a $10 monthly subscription service that can be canceled at any time. Every month you get 4-5 deluxe high end beauty samples like Nars, Laura Mercier, Blinc, OPI & many more. The products are anything from nail polish to skincare products. It’s a great way to try out new beauty products before buying full sizes. If you love Make up and skin care products you will definitely love it!

I’ve received my December Birchbox last week, which was a nice surprise because Boxes are usually shipped around the 10th. The last couple of boxes had great samples but unfortunately this box wasn’t as good.

I’ve got the following products:

  • The POREfessional by Benefit

  • Harvey Prince Yogini perfume
  • Jouer Moisturizing Lip Gloss in Birchbox Pink
  • Olie Biologique Huile Moderne
  • extras: EBOOST Orange Natural Energy + Showstoppers Designer Fashion Tape

I guess it was bad luck this month but usually the samples come in a pretty good size but this box had samples that Sephora throws in your shopping bag. Don’t get me wrong, I know it’s $10/month but usually Birchbox sends out much bigger sample sizes.

I’ve started to use the Benefit POREfessional. I’ve used it twice so far & I like it but I am not sure if I would buy the full size. I think any other primer like Smashbox Photo Primes or L’Oreal Studio secrets does the same job.

I think the Jouer Lip Gloss is pretty good but I’m a person who always loses stuff in my bag (of course I have to have the biggest bag out there) so this one will definitely get lost. Until then I will try to use it as much as possible.

Overall I’m a little disappointed this month. Maybe I just expected more or different things from a December/holiday box but I’m hoping the next one will be better again & even though this one wasn’t one of my favorite boxes I can definitely recommend subscribing to Birchbox.

What did you get in your boxes?

A new BFF
