Outfit of the day

Once in a while the East coast excepts it’s reputation for a freezing and snowy winter and we’re getting a beautiful spring day. I used the opportunity and had to get out one of my favorite Blazer. I just love the bright color and can’t wait to wear it more often again.

Would you wear it? Dramatic Red Lipstick for Spring 2012

The third Spring 2012 trend in my “Would you wear it?” series is, in my opinion the most wearable trend. Actually it’s not really new but designers reinvented the color and show that there are endless ways to wear a dramatic red.

Red lipstick works for any skin type and hair color and there is all different kind of shades and finishes. My current favorite is MAC’s Morange which is great for day and night.

Sigma Synthetic Kabuki Set

Since I’ve found my love for Sigma Brushes I did not stop using them and decided to order another set. Sigma has so many choices that it’s difficult to make a dicision. I’ve decided to order another Face kit and ordered the Synthetic Kabuki Set. The set comes with 4 Brushes and I can definitely say that this set became my favorite face brushes.

The brushes don’t shed and blend in both liquid and powder makeup very well. Sigma describes the brushes as “exclusive Synthetic filament, specially designed to apply powder and liquid products without absorption into the fibers. The shape, density and height of the filaments were carefully engineered to perfectly buff products onto the skin, resulting in a high definition effect.”

To make sure the brushes last a long time you should wash them with a mild shampoo once a week.

If you’d like to try out Sigma brushes make sure to use the code 0112XJML until January 31st. You also receive a gift when purchase $30 or more.

Would you wear it? Candy themed Makeup & Pastels for Spring 2012

My last posting about an upcoming trend for Spring 2012 was rather unusual but I think this one is definitely wearable. Designers like Marc Jacobs, Luis Vuitton or Mulberry have already shown this look in their shows and upcoming adds and I think this trend is not just for the Runways. The colors get me excited for the nicer and brighter days.

What do you think of candy themed Makeup, Pastel tones and lace? Would you wear it?

Dress for less: Whitney Port

I used to watch MTV’s “The Hills” and “The City” and one of my favorite girls on the shows was Whitney Port. I love her style and I think she has a great style, at least most of the time. I picked a couple of her styles and want to show how you could dress like Whitney on a budget.

Above: Black Blazer, Sequined Striped Shirt, Boyfriend Jeans, ankle strap heels, Shopper Bag
Below: sweater dress, knitted Jacket, Sandals, celeste Bag by Marc B., 3-in-1 Bangles, golden Bangles, chain tassel earrings, golden ring

Birchbox January 2012

I hope you had a great weekend and got the chance to do some fun stuff.

As I mentioned in my December post, I wasn’t too happy with my Birchbox. The products were tiny and I would probably say the worst samples I’ve received in my boxes. So I thought New Year, new luck  and I can say that I definitely like this month’ products a lot better.

If you haven’t heard of Birchbox, it’s a $10 monthly subscription service that can be canceled at any time. Every month you get 4-5 deluxe high end beauty samples like Nars, Laura Mercier, Blinc, OPI & many more. The products are anything from nail polish to skincare products. It’s a great way to try out new beauty products before buying full sizes. If you love Make up and skin care products you will definitely love it!

My box included:

  • .05  Fl. oz. Juicy Couture Viva La Juicy – it’s a very girly, fruity fragrance with wild Berries, Mandarin, Vanilla, Gardenia, Honeysuckle & Jasmine (1.4 Fl. oz. $64)
  • 1.0 Fl. oz. Origins Checks and Balances Frothy face wash – with aromatic Bergamot, Spearmint and Lavender  (5.0 Fl. oz. $19.50)
  • Full size Product Stila Smudge Stick Waterproof Eye Liner in peacock – LOVE the color! It’s a very pretty dark green. Highly pigmented and long lasting (Full size $20)
  • 1.0 Fl. oz. VMV Hypoallergenics Re-Everything: Face-Hand-Body-Lotion – without artificial fragrances, dyes, parabens, or preservatives (6.3 Fl. oz. $45)
  • Extra: LÄRABAR Mini Bar in coconut creme pie – I like little extras, the bar was nice to try but I wouldn’t buy a whole box

Are you familiar with Birchbox? Do you subscribe to any other boxes? Let me know, I’m always looking for new ways to try products.

Paris vs. New York

I recently came across the Parisian graphic designer Vahram Muratyan and his beautiful work. After a New York City visit he created “Paris vs. New York“. It’s a travel journal where he compares his unique observation of the two brilliant cities.

I was able to visit Paris last year. The city is really nice and I hope I can go back sometime. NYC on the other side is my all time favorite city so I can’t decide which one is better.

Which city do you prefer?

Would you wear it? Bright Eyeshadow for Spring 2012

I recently came across some Beauty and Style tips for Spring 2012 and bright Eyeshadow was one of the Trends. I like to brighten up my Makeup sometimes but I am not sure if I would follow this trend.

Photocredit: Imaxtree.com

The looks were seen at Shows from Miu Mio, Rebecca Taylor and Richard Taylor. As we all know Runway looks are usually over the top but are bright Eye makeups wearable?

If you like the new trend try out some of these palettes

Let me know what you think, Yay or Nay?
